The choice was never in doubt for the loyal Irishman, and he immediately set sail for home, where he designed the first-ever Claddagh ring for his childhood sweetheart and future wife. He chose a crown to represent their fidelity, paired hands to symbolize their unbreakable friendship and the heart of true romance as an emblem of the undying love that overcame all odds to bring them together once more.
